OCEANOISE2026 is hosted by the Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics (LAB) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, BarcelonaTech (UPC). It is held in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a lovely town (70.000 hab) located on the Mediterranean coast, at around 40km south of Barcelona, Spain.

The conference event will be held in the City Auditorium of Vilanova i la Geltrú (Auditori Municipal Eduard Toldrá, C/ Olesa de Bonesvalls, 8), in the heart of town.

Getting to Vilanova i la Geltrú

From Barcelona Airport (BCN)

Barcelona El Prat Airport has two terminals, T1 and T2, connected by a free inter-terminal shuttle bus (approx. 10 minutes). Depending on your terminal, the recommended options differ slightly.


  • BY BUS

Bus Garraf operates a direct service from Terminal 1 to Vilanova i la Geltrú train station, with a stop in Sitges. Journey time is approximately one hour; tickets cost around €8 one way.   •  BY TRAIN

Rodalies R2 / R2 Sud — transfer at El Prat de Llobregat (Rodalies timetables)

The airport train station is located at Terminal 2 (T2), a short covered walkway from the terminal building.

  1. Take the R2 Nord train (direction Barcelona), one stop to El Prat de Llobregat
  2. Cross to the opposite platform and board the R2 Sud (direction Vilanova i la Geltrú or Sant Vicenç de Calders)
  3. Arrive at Vilanova i la Geltrú station

Total journey time approximately 50–60 minutes. Tickets ~€5–7. Arriving at T1? Take the free inter-terminal shuttle to T2 first. 

  •  BY TAXI

Direct taxi from the airport takes approximately 20–25 minutes. Fares are around €70–75 (daytime) or €90–100 (night rate).


From Vilanova i la Geltrú Station

Most conference hotels are within a 5-minute taxi ride or a 15-minute walk from Vilanova i la Geltrú train station. Taxis are typically available at the station forecourt.

Return to the Airport

Three options are available for your return journey to Barcelona El Prat Airport.

  • BY BUS
Bus Garraf — direct to Airport T1. Departs from Vilanova i la Geltrú train station. Direct service to Terminal 1, stopping at Sitges and Les Roquetes.   •  BY TRAIN

Rodalies R2 Sud — transfer at El Prat de Llobregat

  1. Take the R2 Sud from Vilanova i la Geltrú station (direction Barcelona)
  2. Alight at El Prat de Llobregat and cross to the opposite platform
  3. Board theR2 Nord(direction Aeroport) — one stop to the airport
  4. The airport station is at Terminal 2 (T2); take the free shuttle if your flight departs from T1
