Two major social events will mark the OCEANOISE2026 week, an outdoor icebreaker in the historic heart of Vilanova i la Geltrú, and a conference banquet and dancing evening by the sea.

Icebreaker

Monday 25 May · 19:00 – 23:00
Can Papiol gardens

Museu Romàntic Can Papiol

Carrer Major, 32 · Vilanova i la Geltrú

The OCEANOISE2026 Icebreaker will take place in the outdoor gardens of the Museu Romàntic Can Papiol, in the old quarter of Vilanova i la Geltrú. Built between 1790 and 1801 for Francesc de Papiol i Padró, lawyer, landowner and deputy to the Corts de Cadis of 1812, the house is one of the finest examples of neoclassical domestic architecture in Catalonia, and a rare surviving portrait of 19th-century bourgeois life. Its gardens make for a beautiful and unusual setting to open the conference week.

Important. Only registered OCEANOISE participants may attend. Please bring your nametag.

Getting there

🚶 A short walk from the Auditori Eduard Toldrà. Head down from the auditorium, into the old town along Carrer de les Premses, and Can Papiol is at the first intersection, on your right. The walk takes less than 5 minutes.

Conference Banquet

Thursday 28 May · 20:00 – 02:00
La Cucanya

Restaurant La Cucanya

Racó de Santa Llúcia, s/n · Vilanova i la Geltrú

The OCEANOISE2026 Conference Banquet will be held at La Cucanya, a landmark seafront restaurant with over 45 years of history in Vilanova i la Geltrú. Set on 10,000 m² of grounds directly on the Mediterranean coast, La Cucanya combines traditional Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine with a spectacular location, terrace, sea views, and open sky. The evening begins with a seated dinner and continues with a dancing event in the same venue.

Important. Only registered OCEANOISE participants may attend. Please bring your nametag.

Getting there

🚶 La Cucanya is reachable on foot along the seafront promenade. From the Auditori Eduard Toldrà, walk south towards the beach and follow the coastal path heading southwest towards Racó de Santa Llúcia. The walk takes approximately 30 minutes from the city center and is pleasant along the seafront.
🚕 Taxis will be reserved and available at the train station for transport to the venue at the start of the evening. Taxis will also be available from La Cucanya at the end of the event for the return journey.
